While we didn't come up with the idea, I'm happy that NvP could provide some photos for inspiration. Thanks for popping in and commenting. I would love to see links of the finished piece.

Great job! I just bought the Maverick and painted it this afternoon! A lot of fun to modify. I was worried that the paint would effect the operation of the gun but it didn't. And I have at least three coast of Krylon on it and maybe two layers of details, dry brushing and inking.

OK - nevermind. Found an article on some store going all "Steampunk" and got just the answer I was looking for -"Steampunk? .....the long-lived trend of combining the best of Victorian England with technological advances that didn't actually take place until a hundred years later... "

OK, I'm seeing tons of 'Steampunk' stuff turn up on Ebay. A lot of it looks really cool - great design concepts with amazing imagination. H.G. Wells would've flipped if he'd seen some of this stuff. But what the heck IS 'Steampunk' exactly? Is it just a 'future-retro' general concept for designing anything or does it relate to some specific literary source?
