I think the first one was so important because it was so successful for something made so cheaply. Almost all of it happens in that little room. But why it continues to be successful escapes me.

Perhaps it had just been built up too much by people that watch all the more trendy horror movies, but I really didn't get what the big deal was at all. I couldn't love it for the violence

i tend to agree. the main reason why i gave it 3 stars is because it's one of those things that you should see at least once. especially since they're making 5 of them. for the most part, i was kind of bored. even the twists at the end were more like, oh. not really OMG

I was quite let down by this movie, I have to say. Perhaps it had just been built up too much by people that watch all the more trendy horror movies, but I really didn't get what the big deal was at all. I couldn't love it for the violence, since there really wasn't that much (and I don't just say that as a horror junkie; Reservoir Dogs was probably a good deal bloodier), and I couldn't really love it for the plot either, since there were so many holes in it. I did at least like Cary Elwes, but I always love him in movies so that really doesn't count.
