- Sorry to disappoint Tiff, but she's a brunette. The golden bits are just the underpainting. Can't wait to meet you in person, dearie. Cheers, Ninja

- Hi Ray, Oh, ho ho, there ARE sparkles in there! Well, tiny iridescent flecks if you really want to get to it. I really liked my blush color, so I mixed it with clear gesso and dabbed it on there....

You are so talented, tho i don't do art/design/wotever stuff like you, but i always admire ppl who can do that/have the skill.

Like you, I want to be an illustrator and working on a portfolio for Art Center. I had been cramming bunch of life-drawings in general from people to animals, which I am not really used to.
I am just wondering if you have any bits of advice and tips for me. It would be much appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by & commenting! Well, from the sound of things, you seem to be headed in the right direction. I was told that 1/2 of the portfolio should be drawings from life—esp full figures without too much cropping.
Have you met with an ACCD admissions adviser or visited a National Portfolio Day? They can give you the personal, comprehensive portfolio review and let you know what you need to work on before you apply. If you're in the California area, you can make an appointment to stop by the campus and get your work reviewed by calling 626-396-2373.
Best of luck with your aps,

I had done many figure drawings before and thanks with the tips.
The problem is that what do they want, because they are very general. They didn't really specify like if they wanted rendered figures or quick gestures. I had also done animals by free hand. They even mentioned self-portraits here and there and even landscape.
I am wondering of did you put in your section of life drawing. I need numbers. The only number was 15-20 pictures, including the 10-15 gestures and figure drawings. I need numbers of how many drawings of animals, people, portraits, landscapes, etc.
if you can narrow it down as much as possible, that would be much appreciated.
Keep up with the good work in your illustrations. They are amazing.
Thank you,
Nell

Hmm, well, when I went for my review, I showed some quick gesture drawings from my SVA figure drawing class. They said it was fine to include my sketch book, but that they were looking for some more fully rendered, longer poses. I hope that helps!
Cheers,
